Overview
When I joined First Republic in 2020, they were just beginning to build their internal design and development teams after outsourcing all digital design and development for years.
As an early-career UX designer, I led the revitalization of the consumer desktop experience. Previously reliant on a third-party solution with limited design flexibility, the interface lacked cohesion with the bank's mobile app and brand identity.
I collaborated closely with desktop and mobile vendors to implement key updates requested by several product teams. This project not only ensured consistency across platforms but also laid the foundation for internal design and development of future digital experiences.

The Structure
The product structure at First Republic was divided into two main categories: Consumer and Corporate. Each category was further broken down into Desktop and Mobile categories.
Both Mobile categories were handled by an external design agency. I served as the sole designer for the Consumer Desktop experience, working closely with the entire Consumer Product Management team and both our mobile and desktop vendors.
Design System Update
Part of my task was to update the design system to more closely resemble the mobile experience. However, working with a vendor's plug-in template solution presented limitations. For example, I had limited control over any hard coding options. Due to limitations in both resources and platform capabilities, creating a traditional design system and coding new components wasn't feasible. Instead, I focused on maximizing the available options to create a more intuitive and visually cohesive experience for customers.
